Day 5 & a bit (in and out of Perth)

Its been largely a travel 24 hours so not much to say, but as Nareesa says, “when has that ever stopped me?”

All pretty uneventful until we arrived into Perth, to be greeted by the grumpiest taxi driver in the world. "One 20 buck fare, 5 hours waiting and then another 20 buck fare - I'm giving this up, can't pay the rent..." Sorry mate, but its not really our fault, we arrived, you're a taxi driver...what can I say?" He threw the bags in the car and muttered to himself the whole way to the hotel - which turned out to be a bit crap as well!

But rescued by an excellent Indian restaurant (didn't look much from the outside, and we were the only customers) across the road, and then a bar down the road where we watched the last 15 minutes (well I did) of the Denmark v Australia World Cup match. "Gutsy Socceroos could still make history" is the headline here. I assume they don't mean win it!

As I sit here on Friday morning in Perth airport (again), awaiting flight to Adelaide (only 3 hours - bloody hell its a big country!), just catching up, I have now had 5 shots of coffee, not enough sleep, due to rock hard pillow and (now diminishing) jet lag.

Yesterday's flight with Scoot Air turned out not to be some dodgy operator, but a cut price partner of Singapore Airlines - but at a hundred quid for the five hour flight to Perth, I’m not complaining (although I thought 4 bucks for bottle of water was a bit steep!) They call their cabin crew “Scooties”, which is, well...yuck! I wonder what Alison will do to me if I start calling her a Scootie? Hmm, best not!

Amex got us into the lounge at Changi Airport, so the cost of bottled water more than offset by free food - which as you can see by our expressions was very good - freshly prepared noodle dishes - hot, spicy and tasty!

No lounge at Perth - I had to pay for my coffee. What is the world coming to?

No pics worth posting on the gallery so don't bother looking!

Time to go to the gate - Adelaide next...
