Day 21 (into the Kakadu)

After packing up our camp, draining our "grey water" and topping up our fresh tank, we left Nitmiluk with slightly heavy hearts. Hard to imagine ever being back here in the future and it was a truly beautiful and uplifting place.

A quick stop in Katherine to empty our septic tank (gotta be done!), replenish our supplies at the supermarket and the inevitable coffee stop (my biker mates will know how necessary this is!), and we were off north again to Pine Creek, a huge settlement of 400, but which did include the Lazy Lizard Roadhouse, serving excellent barramundi for lunch.

Then it was off the highway to start the quick loop (about 500km) round Kakadu National Park. We stopped after only 60km for our first night at a Roadhouse stop - Mary River Roadhouse, which is quiet, remote (from Western perspective) and very peaceful. As I write the sun is just sinking into the western sky - its beer o'clock! Nareesa and I are enjoying our first of the evening before we decide whose turn it is to cook. We are making the most of the camper's functionality, to "eat in"most of this two weeks, before we are back to mostly eating out when we fly to Queensland in about a week's time.

That will do for now, its just not the same without pictures. I've tried resizing and even paying for internet access - all to no avail so far. I would download a third part application to help with the job, but for that I need in decent internet access! Catch 22! I will probably have to wait till Darwin. C'est la vie!
