Day 57 (Perth, Freemantle - Freeo, obviously, and Rottnest Island - Rotto, of course)

We are almost done. Our last full day but we spent it well - a trip out to Freemantle and a ferry out to Rottnest Island. A trip down memory lane for me - and largely a pain in the neck for Nareesa! She reminded me frequently of my magical mystery tour round Liverpool in which I pointed out every pub I had drunk in, and every street I had walked down! Luckily (for her), I was in Perth over 30 years ago and the memory is a bit hazy in places. But I managed to find the boatyard I worked in all those years ago in Freemantle and introduced her to some Quokkas on Rotto. I was tempted to take her the campsite I had used but even I have my limits.

We did hire bikes for a few hours and tour what is a really beautiful and still unspoilt island, with a gorgeous climate - it was a lovely 22ºC in the winter - and we pedalled along deserted roads (private vehicles are barred I think) to sun kissed bay after bay. We even managed to spot a sea eagle (which I called a fish eagle!). I didn't show Nareesa this sign.

We managed the obligatory coffee in Freeo town centre, lunch overlooking the harbour

(see the evidence of why Macgregor looks like Macgregor and Sulaiman looks like Sulaiman), and later pizza and beer before heading back to Perth for a well deserved rest - I have to stop eating like this, there is a wedding to attend next week and that suit is not going fit!

So without further ado here are a few pics to give a flavour of our day:
