Bit prosaic today - just a basic journal, so I definitely won’t be offended if you just skip to the pictures! It is after all, time to go home...
For our last morning in Krakow we returned to the Jewish quarter to meet up with Matthew, an old friend who has been living in Poland for the last year, and who is, as it happens, the son of Joanna, with whom I was so recently in the USA.
Fantastic to catch up for chat, gossip and zapikanka, which, despite the 40 minutes standing outside Krakow’s best vendor in the heat of the day, was worth the wait. Should never have agreed to share one with Nareesa! Then in the afternoon a visit to the Wieliczka Salt Mines - a journey 135 metres underground and a a lot further back in time. And all made of salt; salt sculptures, salt floors, salt walls, salt chandeliers, salt lakes. Great visit. Then back to Krakow to polish (geddit!) off the trip with a little too much vodka! Had to be done.
So to the next time my fellow chuffers!
