4 idiots and a motorcycle diary - episode 3

Miles today = 85 (or 885 if you include the ferry)

Miles so far = 340 (excluding the ferry, obviously)

Countries visited = 3

Where are we now? - Asturias, Spain

Hard to write much about a day on a ferry (although that didn’t stop me in Norway), and this is again probably more cruise than ferry, “blessed” as it is with Elvis impersonators, magicians and old time bingo. With a couple too many red wines inside us I do admit to singing along tunelessly with Eric and Rob to many an Elvis hit late last night, much to Steve’s embarrassment! Last night was the only night we are allowed to over-indulge as it was 4.15 this afternoon before we got off the boat, so lots of time to recuperate.

Sleep was the almost non-existent event of expectation; four middle aged men in bunk beds - you can imagine!

So we have whiled away the hours today, eating, reading and catch a few zeds in the lounge which actually smells worse than our cabin.

So with the exit from the boat (always a nerve racking point) safely accomplished, along with several hundred other motorbikes, we are on our way west across the north coast of Spain. This “bring your bike to Spain” is clearly popular. I can see why - quality roads with a damn sight less traffic on them. From snatched conversations on the boat most are touring Spain and returning on the same ferry in a week or two. But we have the whole of Western Europe ahead of us. Starting with the fantastic road to our overnight stop at Cangas de Onis, just to the north of Picos de Europa.

It don’t get much better than this (although it did rain briefly!)
