Just Another Winter's Tale. Part 8: Just Another Christmas Day!

With the mercury dropping but the sky, if it is possible, even clearer, the Calgary family have delayed Christmas by 3 days in our honour. Which of course only means more food, more beer, more wine - and, with respect to The Great Escape - Jaegerbombs late into the night. And of course some competitive (and slightly pissed) Mexican Train; our gift of choice for everyone here under the age of 15, but clearly intended for the adults to become addicted too - which on current observations is a done deal. I have already had to order the delivery of a 6th set!

Aside from taking a long walk to the River Bow and some necessary coffee stops the last two days seem to have been taken up mostly with partying, boozing, playing games and of course, eating! Not only will I need to give my liver a rest on return to England, I might need a new wardrobe if this carries on!

Nothing much more to report other than to thank my wonderful Canadian family for their staggering hospitality, the laughs, the love and for arranging just the right weather - cold, crisp blue sky days to show off the best of this country! I am led to believe that the world junior hockey (that's ice hockey for any non-Canadians) are being held this time next year in Red Deer, just up the road from here and, even better, just round the corner from cousin Stu. I might just have to come back!

As I post this latest episode we are yet again at an airport, this time Calgary on route for Abbotsford, just outside Vancouver, for our last leg. More friends to visit, New Year's Eve to celebrate and doubtless more food and wine to be consumed. Wish us luck!...

Two peas in a pod (can't see it myself). Me and cousin Gordon.

Cousins Stu and Kimmy

The moon and Jupiter outside the front door. Minus 15 or so by this time so didn't stay out long!
