Corfu Day 4

Greek salads today: 1

Greek salads so far: 3

What us global correspondents would call a “slow news day”. Given we have spent nearly all of it at the beach that is probably not much of a surprise.

But a cracking day all the same. The hotel and its location just get better and better. Turns out we have preferential access to a private beach with cafe, clean toilets, bar, swimming pool and waited on service at our reserved sun bed! And all for a 3 minute walk from the front of the hotel!

Believe it or not (and those of you who know Nareesa, will hardly believe it), we have barely moved all day except to slosh about in the sea, eat Greek salad (what else) at the cafe, or do our bit to keep the Greek brewing industry going. And then we couldn’t manage to get all the way back to hotel without sampling another bar on the main road (where I lost at cribbage yet again).

But of course all this news is mundane in comparison to the great Greek salad comparison. Could I start a website? comparethesalad.com?

So no capers or red cabbage today. But a liberal sprinkling of oregano gave it another dimension (although it is possible the previous ones had oregano and I just didn’t notice - note to self: must take this more seriously). Having swum at least 50 metres and tired ourselves out we decided the salad needed to be accompanied by another Greek speciality: tzatziki - and very good that was too. Like I say, its a slow news day!

So sorry folks not much else to write about today. As I sit here by the pool watching the evening sun sink to the horizon, its time to start thinking of sundowners and another hard earned catch of the day in one of the tavernas by the beach we haven’t yet tried. All that fannying around with passenger locator forms and wearing of masks - turns out it was well worth it!

Have I mentioned that I am liking Corfu! A few pictures to round off the day...

A happy couple on their way back from the beach. Couldn't manage it all the way without a stop.

Man, he needs to get some sun!

And he is in!

Nice view, nice feet (obviously not mine!)
