My food blog (aka last day in Corfu)

Greek salads since last blog: 2

Greek salads so far: 10

Its all about the Greek salads - well, food in general actually!

Sorry about the picture composition - the hand sanitiser is artful, don't you think?

This is my sign off for this trip, partly because we are heading home tomorrow and partly because I have run out of things to say (yes it is possible!)

We have spent our last day on the beach again and so it has been a day of read, swim, snooze, eat, drink, repeat. Not much to write about there. We did of course have the obligatory Greek salad for lunch but even that is not worthy of much comment, as we have eaten lunch in the beach bar three times now! But it was up to its usual standard and had the desired effect of sending us back to our sun-beds for our afternoon naps!

Last night we ate in our favourite sea side taverna (where we will probably eat again tonight), and were treated to the freshest (and possibly biggest) sea bream I have ever seen. It smelt and tasted like it had just come out of the sea and would have fed us twice! Fresh tasty food, cooked simply, accompanied by yet another Greek salad. This is our new idea for "Friday fish & chips"! Or "fish supper" as they say in Scotland.

As I leave Greece I vow to cook and eat like this more often. It just feels so good. And all the fruit I have eaten … if only I could resist the beer … and the wine!

Well that’s it for another trip. Its up and out tomorrow morning and as long as we have got our Covid paperwork correct we should be allowed back in. We had a covid test yesterday which was negative and as long as the “day 2” test back home is also negative when we get back we are home and clear. If that’s all there is to it, it will have been well worth it - although the UK government “passenger locator form” takes a hell of a lot longer to complete than the Greek equivalent. And you do spend the whole time filling it in nervous that you have somehow cocked it up and you will be refused entry at Gatwick. Then what? Back to Greece? Not all bad then! One more fabulous Greek meal to come, one more sleep and then we are homeward bound. Here's the last few pictures:

A man enjoying his food (including a Greek salad). I was trying to cover the chips with my arm.

We did that some damage!

Bye for now. Have I mentioned that I like Corfu x
