Just a very short and boring blog today. Instead of a long and boring one!

More important things to do tonight, like celebrate my brother’s birthday with him.

So pretty straightforward day really. On checking this morning's weather we were relieved to have decided not to be in and around Applecross and Kyle of Lochalsh as it was, and had been, throwing it down for the last 12 hours or so! Good call as it turned out. Got a quick view of all three bridges from our hotel as we left.

So we headed out of Edinburgh in an attempt to stay ahead of the weather and largely succeeded. Lost at the first town we came to (an excuse for early coffee), then across the Lothian moors to Berwick, before turning down the Northumberland coast via Bamburgh and Warkworth castles - I was only required to go in one of them!

An early arrival into Whitley Bay and it is now time for that celebration. My little brother Brian is 60 tomorrow and I am delighted to be here to help him mark the occasion.
