And so another fabulous journey draws to a close. To be honest its a little disappointing not to be in the USA, bagging states and enjoying the amazing space, but we have managed to make the most of what has been a brilliant substitute. And we have managed to get right round the north coast of Scotland to boot. Even the weather has been pretty good (just glad we are not up in the north west of Scotland right now!)
And I got to share my brother's birthday celebrations. It was as expected a somewhat later night than usual last night, but we were reasonably good boys and were up fit and well this morning to take Brian and Joanne for breakfast - can't believe I forgot to take a silly selfie! But I got one last night! Happy birthday Brian!
Extended breakfast meant a late start and it was well after 11 this morning before we shot through the Tyne Tunnel on our way south. A detour through the North York Moors took us to yet another ruined priory - Kirkham, but that really is the last one for a while! They are however a good way to get off the bike for a while and wander aimlessly, lost in thought. And you need bit of that when you are concentrating all day!
Then yet again across the Humber (I really must love that bridge!) and straight down to Lincoln, where as I write the sun is shining, we are in the old part of the town and just about to explore the local cobbled streets, a quick wizz round the cathedral and castle before an early dinner and, if I am not mistaken, a rather early night. Averaging pretty much 200 miles a day on mostly back roads has been wonderful - but it is tiring and I think Eric and I are both ready for a day off the bikes. And a change of clothing!
So that is it, I won't blog from home tomorrow evening, so until the next trip, bye for now! And not too many pictures to show for today either - even the camera is tired! Here's the last few of Kirkham Priory...
